The doubling cube starts at '1' (or '64' as a visual indicator that it's centered and the current game stake is 1 unit). Before rolling your dice on your turn, you can choose to "double" the stakes of the game. Your opponent then has three choices:
Take: Accept the double. The game continues at twice the stakes, and the opponent now owns the cube (only they can make the next double).
Drop/Pass: Refuse the double. The game ends immediately, and you (the player who offered the double) win the current stake of the game (before the proposed double).
The cube can be redoubled throughout the game. It adds a significant layer of strategy!
