The numbers rolled on the two dice indicate how many points (pips) you can move your checkers. For example, if you roll a 3 and a 5, you can move one checker 3 points and another checker 5 points, OR you can move one checker 3 points and then that same checker an additional 5 points (or vice-versa), as long as each part of the move is legal.
